Prestatyn Raceway, Near Rhyl, Wales.
The track was not a conventional speedway track it was an 800 yard
trotting track but when the horses were having their holidays the
bikes came out to play. The tracks neighbours objected to
motor sport at the venue and eventually they defeated the speedway
promoters. I presume the track went back to the clip clop of
horses hooves. The large oval (800 yards), meant no
conventional speedway so a number of Long Track meetings took
place but with a who's who of speedway riders as you will see from
the two programmes shown below
My thanks go to Reg Clydesdale who has
these two fairly rare programmes in his collection. I knew
of the North Wales venture but didn't have any items to start a
page in the A-Z with. Reg's programmes have provided a
starting point for my Prestatyn Raceway webpage, so if you have
anything bikes or cars at the track please email me
John
If you can scan any pictures, programmes or badges send
