I know Portsmouth has had two homes but I had nothing on
either track until I received the following photo from Graham
Claxton.
This page is devoted to Portsmouth's first
track at: - Wessex Stadium, Copnor Gardens, Portsmouth.
Action started here August 1929 although the application was to
run speedway in 1928 but nothing happened in 1928! The
venture appears to have been beset with problems and closed for
good on 29th November 1930

Graham Claxton says: I am doing some research on the
park in the road where I live in Portsmouth. I believe
it was used as speedway (dirt) track between 1928/30 can you
confirm this for me. Please see photo above.
